There is a growing need for preventative health within the HCA organization with their patients, incorporating a Wellness Clinic that will encompass all aspects to keeping patients healthy or teach them to live a healthier life would be beneficial in the Houston market for all established and new patients.
Confirm or Refute?
After gathering all the data from the different sites and seeing that Houston definitely has a great need for preventative measures that need to be taken. There is a high number of obesity cases in the city of Houston as well as Texas having the 10 largest counties in the U. S (Harris and Dallas County) have the highest mortality rate. People in Houston and Dallas are 20-30 % more likely to die sooner than people in Los Angeles, Miami, and New York. There are many factors that show it is beneficial for a facility like this one such as a person’s health status (high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes) and physical inactivity. There is also a correlation between higher obesity rates and higher breast cancer mortality rates in the area. There are many issues that the community face when it involves improving the longevity and the health of its patrons in the Houston city limits.
How will I organize and share this story?
Map—showing geographical data (Possibly comparing the states and the obesity, diabetes, strokes incidents- highest incidents)
Adult Obesity in the United States
Adult obesity rates decreased in Kansas, increased in Colorado, Minnesota, Washington, and West Virginia, and remained stable in the rest of states between 2015 and 2016. This supports trends that show steadying levels in recent years, yet adult obesity rates now exceed 35 percent in five states and top 30 percent in 25 states. West Virginia has the highest adult obesity rate at 37.7 percent and Colorado has the lowest at 22.3 percent.
Bar Graph-Cost Effective Ratio
Histogram-Electronic Records report-Showing how many times these patients are visiting hospital
Pie Chart-Show the cases that are preventable/Life Expectancy in Houston
Scatter Plots- top show Adult obesity rate
The use of all these visuals will show that that there is not just a story that can be told by words but by numbers and it allows you to see how drastic a situation can be but also how it can be affected by the change of a new endeavor or person
When I submitted my hypothesis in week 2, I errantly based it on data focused on the global cell phone market and the percentage in which Apple controls. After analyzing nearly ten years’ worth of data, I concluded that Apple would likely maintain roughly 15 to 20 percent of the global cell phone market, which presented an excellent case for the company to move to AR.
I later discovered the meaningful data centered around future AR markets and the potential revenue each could produce. Therefore, yes, my later analysis confirmed my hypothesis that AR would grow substantially over the next few years while disrupting several industries. Analysts predict that by 2025 the healthcare revenue from AR will increase to around $5 billion, gaming to nearly $12B, and live entertainment to $5B. More importantly, my data predicted a significant jump in revenue between 2018 and 2022.
In creating Apples move to AR, I need to answer the questions of how much money do we anticipate AR will generate in the future and which industries do we presume will be most lucrative? To do that, I must first show the rise and fall of one variable in relation to another (typically time) which will illustrate revenue growth (Week 4 text). For instance, X market earned Y dollars in year one, and then tripled in years two and again in year three. For this, I plan to use either a line or a stack graph to illustrate the anticipated rapid growth caused by AR.
Next, I plan to analyze the relationships between data points to determine which industries are experiencing the most significant percentage growth, which I believe the scatter plot will work best. We view these data points based on proportion because sectors like gaming and healthcare are already large and don’t have the capacity for exponential growth like education. There is also a lot of room for growth in entertainment and real estate. Therefore, as Apple’s CEO, I am more interested in the growth potential of those industries.
Although analyzing the data reinforced my hypothesis, my thinking has shifted substantially about how to use the data. Now, I have to use the data to identify which industries will represent both sizable and sustainable growth as a result of AR and then reposition the company.
